Based on Audacity users requests, I have zipped all the plug-ins on this page into a single zip file, which you can get by clicking here - ny-plugs.zip.

Unzip ny-plugs.zip into your Audacity plug-ins folder - next time you start Audacity, the plug-ins will appear in various menus according to whether the plug is ;type process (effects menu), ;type generate (generate menu), or ;type analyze (analyze menu), under the name in the ;name "..." line.

For a zip file containing a single text file of instructions for all the plug-ins in ny-plugs.zip, click here - ny-how2.zip.

In addition, each plug-in is zipped into an individual zip file along with instructions in a plain text file (for example bleeper.ny plus bleeper.txt). Unzip the zip file into your Audacity plug-ins folder; the .txt file can be read with any text editor or word processor.

Many of these plug-ins have been updated with simpler code and/or code which makes them function in a more 'user-friendly' way.

For example, 1. the panning plug-ins used to assume the Audacity users already had their stereo audio sounding mono and panned to the center pan position. These plug-ins have been updated so they do this automaticaly before applying the panning function.

2. many plug-ins (especially the delay effects) now include automatic normalization to avoid possible clipping.

3. Simplified code includes such things as the main part of the ramp panning effect being reduced from about a dozen lines of code to a single function.

Each plug-in below is marked with number(s) indicating what type of audio can be changed or generated:

1 - mono audio only
2 - stereo audio only
12 - mono and stereo audio

Please note that plug-ins are being added gradually.

All plug-ins are released under terms of the

DELAY EFFECTS

* Delay with normalization 12 - zip file
Roger Dannenberg's delay effect, with normalization added to prevent clipping.

* Delay (bouncing ball) 12 - zip file
Delays speed up over time, like a bouncing ball.

* Delay (low pass filter) 12 - zip file
With each delay, the cutoff frequency of a lowpass filter decreases.

* Delay (pitch change) 12 - zip file
With each delay, pitch increases or decreases. Corresponding change in duration of each delay.

* Delay (reverse bouncing ball) 12 - zip file
Delays slow down over time, reverse of a bouncing ball.

* Delay (stereo flip) 2 - zip file
Each delay flips the left and right channels with each other.

FILTER & FLANGER EFFECTS

* Comb filter 12 - zip file
Frequencies at linear intervals (eg., 100, 200, 300, 400 hz) resonate.

* Flanger (linear) 12 - zip file
One flange high frequency 'peak', set the time when you want this to occur.

* High pass filter (LFO) 12 - zip file
An LFO modulates the cutoff frequency of a high pass filter.

* Low pass filter (LFO) 12 - zip file
An LFO modulates the cutoff frequency of a low pass filter.

* Notch filter 12 - zip file
Remove a single frequency such as 60 Hz or 50 Hz hum.

* Rectifier with optional modulation 12 - zip file
A rectifier which applies a bias to the result, so that the plug-in can be re-applied with further added overtone harmonics with each application. Modulation types: constant, fade-in, fade-out, LFO.

* Remove tone 12 - zip file
Determines frequency of and removes unwanted tone.

STEREO-specific EFFECTS

* Panning 2 - zip file
Pan stereo audio statically anywhere between left and right channels.

* UPDATED - Panning (LFO) 2 - zip file
* UPDATED - Panning (LFO) 2a - [for Audacity 1.3.3 and later] zip file
An LFO modulates the pan position of your audio. Updated to panlfo2.ny, includes LFO waveform choice, leftmost and rightmost pan positions.
panlfo2a.ny is for Audacity 1.3.3 and later, with improved screen display.

* Panning (orbit) 2 - zip file
Makes your stereo audio sound like it's in orbit. Pan, tremolo, lowpass filter and pitch modulation are all controlled by an LFO.

* Panning (ramp) 2 - zip file
Pan stereo audio in a straight line from one stereo position to another.

* Panning (random) 2 - zip file
Someone is playing around with the panning knob.

* Stereo Butterfly 2 - zip file
Statically set the width of your stereo audio, anywhere from full stereo to mono-sounding to left channel flipped with right channel.

* Stereo Butterfly (LFO) 2 - zip file
An LFO modulates the stereo width of your audio.

* Stereo Butterfly (ramp) 2 - zip file
Changes the stereo width of your audio over time in a straight line.

* Stereo widener 2 - zip file
Creates the illusion that your speakers are further apart than they really are.

MISCELLANEOUS EFFECTS

* Audio chunker 12 - zip file
Chops your audio selection into equal-sized chunks, then spaces these equally in time.

* Audio Selection Sequencer version 2 - zip file
Load a brief piece of audio such as a cat meow or bell, enter values for tempo, notes, etc., and your audio selection becomes a melody.
* online help file for Audio Selection Sequencer 2
* Sequence created using an internet cat meow, "singing" the Meow Mix TV commercial tune from many years ago.
* Brief interview on CBC Radio 1 program Spark, talking about the sequencer.

* bleep out audio 12 - zip file
Does this need any bleeping explanation?

* Equalization (one band, customizable) 12 - zip file
Set center frequency, band width in octaves, amount of gain or attenuation, and normalization level to be applied to the EQ result.

* Extract audio 12 - zip file
Extracts (cuts out) part of the selection and deletes the rest.

* Ring modulator 12 - zip file
Can produce bell-like non-musical tones. Uses sine, triangle, sawtooth or pulse waveform modulation.

* Time Shifter - zip file 12
For people (such as screen reader users) who must use (or prefer to use) the keyboard to time shift a track in Audacity.

SOUND GENERATORS

* NEW! Binaural tones with surf 2 [stereo] - zip file
Updated version of bitone.ny. You can change the beat frequencies over time.
Published research indicates stereo beat frequencies can generate relaxation and other states of consciousness. Use at your own risk - please read extensive instructions. For explanation about Binaural brainwave entrainment click here - The Science Of Binaural Beat Brainwave Entrainment Technology - for meditation relaxation stress management. I have no affiliation with this website or company.

* Bloops (mono) and Bloops (stereo) 1&2 - zip file
Two plug-ins which generate a series of mono or stereo noise-based bloops. the stereo version also generates bloops in random pan positions.

* Buzz tone 1 - zip file
Generates a nasal-sounding tone with user-defined number of equal amplitude harmonics.

* Design Waveform 1 - zip file
Design and generate your own waveform using straight lines - you can then smooth the corners with the enclosed lowpass filter.

* DTMF 1 - zip file
Type in your telephone number, or an 'alphabetized' number such as 1800audacity. Includes the military's A, B, C and D to the right of the regular number keypad.
