"Amendments to City's Charter Pass" Aspen Times November 7, 2001 Aspen Times Staff "Three amendments to the city charter, including one creating "specially designated spaces" within the community, won endorsement Tuesday from Aspen voters. The John Denver Sanctuary and the Ute Cemetery will both be protected as specially designated spaces, with voter approval of Referendum 2A by a 745-to-254 vote. The ballot question added a section on specially designated spaces to the charter and offered its protections to the two city properties. Any change in the passive uses that the two sites enjoy will require a unanimous vote of the City Council now that they have been given the designation." - - - - - - - - - - - - - Editor's Note: This is good for the John Denver Sanctuary since in other years there were questions about whether to use the park for other purposes.
