TOP NAMES ON PROGRAM FOR ANDERSON INAUGURAL Minneapolis Star Minneapolis, MN 12/22/70 Singer Trini Lopez and folksinger composer John Denver will perform at Gov. elect Wendell Anderson's inaugural hall, and one or two other entertainers "of comparable national stature" may be added to the program, planners of the inaugural events announced Monday. Paul R. Thatcher, head of the inaugural committee, said both Lopez and Denver, who lives in Edina, supported Anderson during his campaign. The inaugural ball will begin at 8 PM January 6 in the Metropolitan Sports Center, Bloomington. Planners expect a turnout of 8,500 with tickets being sold at $10 per person to those who have been sent invitations in the mail. Other events in the inaugural calendar are: A concert by the St. Paul chamber Orchestra at 8:00 PM, January 3 in the St. Paul Arts and Science Center. An ecumenical prayer service at 9:30 AM January 5 in Christ Lutheran Church, 105 W. University Ave, St. Paul. A governors' dinner at 7PM January 5 in the recently refurbished Alexander Ramsey House, 265 S. Exchange St., St. Paul. The inauguration ceremony at noon January 6 in the House chamber at the State Capitol. A state luncheon at 1:30 PM, January 6 in the grand ballroom of the St. Paul Hilton Hotel. A state reception from 5:30 to 7:00 PM January 6 in the Capitol rotunda. The only event open to the public without tickets is the January 6 reception. The Minnesota Orchestra will play at the reception, marking the first time that the orchestra has appeared at the Capitol. The governor's dinner and the state luncheon also are new, Thatcher said, as is the appearance of "name" entertainment at the inaugural ball. All living former Minnesota governors and their wives are scheduled to attend the governors' dinner in the Alexander Ramsey House. The former governors are Karl Rolvaag, Elmer L. Andersen, Orville Freeman, C. Elmer Anderson, Luther Youngsdahl, Harold Stassen, Elmer Benson and outgoing Gov. Harold LeVander. The dinner will be based on menus from Ramsey's era and guests will be served in the parlor, which accommodates 42 persons. Ramsey was Minnesota's second governor, from 1859 to 1863. Guests at the state luncheon where about 1,000 are expected will be representatives of government throughout the state and religious, professional and business leaders. For the inauguration itself, Anderson will call on LeVander at the Governor's Residence and travel with him to the Capitol. Anderson will be escorted at the ceremony by LeVander and Chester J. Moeglein, the state adjutant general. Chief Justice Oscar Knutson of the Minnesota Supreme Court will administer the oath of office to Anderson, and Anderson then will deliver his televised inaugural address to the joint session of the Legislature.
