I was pleasantly surprised as I drove down the road and a John Denver tune came on the radio, a rare occurrence these days. I turned the volume up as loud as it would go and liked what I heard. I admire Billy Dean for taking the JD hit and making it very close to the original without tarnishing it in any way. He even had the last line enthusiastically down pat just the way John would have done it. This song is worth going out and purchasing and it would make a statement that John Denver fans are still alive, well and longing to hear his music. Sunshine < Mtsunshine@webtv.net > <+> <+> <+> <+> <+> <+> <+> "WINDSTAR EXPANSION POSSIBLE" by Carol Sullivan Executive Director/Founder The Blossom Foundation for Children & the Environment Now more than ever, the Windstar Foundation, CO-founded by John Denver and Tom Crum, needs our support to remain a viable organization. John wouldn't want it to die. Windstar is important because it teaches and enlightens people about what they can do to create a sustainable environment - personally and globally. It also gives workshops for teachers on ecological curriculum. The Windstar Foundation has the leadership of Ron Deutschendorf, John Denver's brother. With our support it can expand its scope to be on the scale of the National Audubon Society or the Smithsonian. This year Windstar continues its annual Symposium series on Friday, September 24, 2004 with the theme: NEW Choices for Your Future. The sky can be the limit for Windstar. I really believe that. Visit http://www.wstar.org or write for more information. The Windstar Foundation / P.O. Since I am a big fan of the late John Denver and of Kyle Petty, I decided to take in the concert. Boy, what a pleasant surprise. The show was super, from the lighting, sound, all the trees and the back drop. There were 5 band members and 2 vocalists. The songs Ron Rich sang sounded just like John was present. The crowd just loved him. It was one of the better concerts I have been to in recent times. It was nice that they were raising money for a camp for kids with life threatening illnesses. That is something John would really like. I was proud to be a part of the crowd at this fine concert. We need you more than ever in this world we have today. The war machine is raging. Another soldier dies. His mother weeps forlornly. He was her only boy. Blessed are peacemakers. Why did you have to go? I strive to find the answers, for oh I miss you so! In dreams, you are still with me, but comes the break of dawn, Reality assaults me, and you are really gone. I cannot help but wish that you were back on Earth again, Serenely walking where the river whispers round the bend, Beneath the golden aspens, shedding leaves like falling tears- The man in tune with nature, the man who really cares. Sometimes I think I hear the strains of your guitar play on. In the mists of early morning, I thought I saw you, John. Yet, when the fog had disappeared, revealed there to me. Was the eagle soaring upward, you had said that you would be. I cannot but be thankful that we had you in our time. But many days I cannot find the reasons in the rhyme. Wherever you are dwelling, now your life time had to cease, God grant you love and laughter, and to you, my friend, give peace. Peace, My Friend.
