It was held on the evening of November 27th in the Cafe Muse'. Ten people sang 18 songs and we had about 50 guests. Most of then were families with children. The PaPa Trio opened the concert with "Annie's Song" and they had a wonderful harmony and beautiful sound of guitars. It was followed by "Today." The lead vocalist of the trio named Sung Yoohyun is nicknamed "Sung Denver". His voice was so clear like John!! Yang Byungwoo showed us a beautiful guitar tremolo. The next song, "Like A Sad Song", was performed by the son of Park Youngil who is a member of the Papa Trio. He is just 12 years old and his playing was incredibly beautiful. I was the next performer. "The Denver Trio" and I sang "For Baby." There were some mothers and babies so I explained the history of the song. Next, Song Inyong sang two songs "A Song For All Lovers" and "Perhaps Love." His smile and voice are so warm and gentle. His nickname is Song Denver. "Sunshine On My Shoulders", "Leaving on a Jet Plane" and "Grandma's Feather Bed" were the songs that followed. Shin Dongan performed the theme. His nickname is Shin Denver. His performing always reminds me of John Denver. His singing and the harmony of "The Denver Trio" was so brilliant that even non-John Denvers fan loved them singing. Choi Kilho was the next performer and he sang the lovely "Darcy Farrow" especially for his wife and his baby who is not yet born. He met his wife in our fan club. They are the first "John Denver" couple in the club. And we are waiting for their baby to be born next February. Choi Kilho is nicknamed Choi Denver. The next song "My Sweet Lady" was sung by Kim Jaehan who is still waiting for a girl for whom he is longing to sing this song. His voice is a tenor voice and his singing "My Sweet Lady" is special. The last singer was Han Junghoon who is the best John Denver copy singer (we called him that). His nickname is Paul Denver. His performing "Calypso", "Rocky Mountain High" is exceptionally beautiful. He was a professional singer and his performing is always so charming. He is a very humorous person. While we sang, we thought about John and we felt John smiling in heaven. After the concert, "The Papa Trio" sang some Simon & Garfunkle songs, and after dinner our "Denvers" (you remember Shin Denver, Choi Denver etc.) sang some beautiful Korean songs. This was the first concert, and we had a really good time. We have plans to have another tribute concert next year and I hope more people feel John Denver then. <*> <*> <*> <*> <*> <*> <*> Review of the Kevin James Yeargin Concert November 6, 2004 - Doylestown, PA "Seven Year Ache...I hope he comes back soon!" by Donna Lynne Pinto There were about 40 people at Kevin James Yeargin's November 6th Doylestown, PA show. A good number of us were introduced to the blonde-haired country boy when he drove up from North Carolina for the November 1997 John Denver memorial held by the "Hearts in Harmony" fan club. Back then, Kevin had to be forced to sing lead on any of the songs but his marvelous "For Bobbie" will never be forgotten. Now he's played 75 solo gigs this year alone, including opening for Keith Urban and Kenny Chesney. KJ wanted to thank his East Coast friends for their support by giving a free "home" concert at Salem United Church and we were all thrilled to be there! Kev only did two JD-written songs, "Leaving On A Jet Plane" and the final encore, "This Old Guitar." Other highlights included lots of Billy Dean, Keith Urban, James Taylor, and Dan Fogelberg tunes. His playing was AWESOME as always...especially evident on the Fogelberg songs. Other highlights included the guitar parts on "Chevy Van" and George Harrison's "Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth)". Like many of Harrison's songs, the timing is rather complicated but KJ pulled it off so well. There were lots of smiles and those funny looks he gets when he knows he played a particularly difficult bit well. Being Kevin, he had the stage set with a Southwestern rug that displayed four guitars, including two 12-strings and three 6-strings. Three were purchased from a dealer that helped Dan Fogelberg sell off 55 of his guitars. The inlay on the Fogelberg L-55 Yamaha and the back woodwork was really nice. Kev also had along a Guild, Ibanez, and Martin. As always, we had lots of fun during the break with all of the goodies Cindy Donaldson brought with her. We also spent the break looking at pictures of a 1997 JD concert, checking out the 2004-2005 JD Connection t-shirts (really nice image with columbines and lyrics from "Durango Mt. Caballero") and calendars (lots of Barb White and Patty Peavey pics), and exchanging items for the Windstar Spirit Connection - thanks, Barb). Kev's friend Val showed us photos of Dan Fogelberg playing the guitars he originally had built...it's easy to see and audibly evident that they are KJ's pride and joys! As always, Kevin was really happy to be playing for us "Denver People." He's played at John Denver tributes in Aspen, Colorado; Central Park; the Pier in New York City; Windstar Vision Walk in New Jersey, and even helped the North Carolina Friends of John Denver organize an event. Seven years later, many of the friendships formed at a time of mourning are still bringing us together. Val and KJ hung around to talk for awhile but had to leave as they were driving to Virginia after the show to be at her son's hockey game by 8 AM. If you can, check out his webpage at http://www.kjyeargin.com and maybe we will have the chance to catch Kevin at another ski resort in 2005. Peace... Boyer Reviewed by Christine Egli of the JDMAS Australia I enjoyed reading the book "Seeking Grace With Every Step" very much and have already begun to re-read it. I like the way the author introduces the reader to a variety of themes that are relative to John's songs, and also that he has added a few lines from a variety of John's songs to show how they are relative to each theme. He then explains how the themes and the words are connective to John's spirituality. Informative and inspiring, this book is well worth reading. About the Author: Boyer is the author of 10 books on biblical and liturgical spirituality as well as many articles for various periodicals. He enjoys listening to the music of John Denver and hiking and climbing in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. <+> <+> <+> <+> <+> <+> <+> ======================================= J O H N D E N V E R N O T E S ======================================= Lori Kutz < ronkutz@msn.com > I was recently in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico with my family, and got a chance to sit by the ocean and read and listen to J.D. on my walkman. Whenever I'm on vacation I actually get to take the time to reflect about life and the things I love. Of course, when I'm out in nature, I think a lot about J.D. and his songs and what his life meant to me. I was in a good mood and walked over to the bar to get some sodas for my family. As I approached the bar, I could hear John singing "I'm Sorry." I was so excited, I told the bartender to take his time because I was going to stay there while the song was playing anyway. When I got back to our room, I excitedly told my family they were playing J.D. and my daughter said she knew I would say something because she could hear it through the window of the bathroom. It made my day. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - John Denver Screensavers for download: http://www.geocities.com/lsettel/jdscreensavers.html - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The cd's "A Song's Best Friend" (The Very Best of JD) and "Christmas In Concert" have been released in Korea. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Ellen Stapenhorst has a new cd called "Come Back Home."
