If any of you have web pages of your own that you'd like RMH High to link to, just let me know. Also, if you would rather not have us link to the web page let us know that as well. And (of course) please add links from your page to the RMH Page. I've expanded "The Eagle Page". I've also expanded many other areas of the page and added a lot of new links. Does anyone have any .gif or .jpg pictures of John? It would be very nice to include some pictures on the web page. I have some pictures but so far I don't have them in the proper format for the web. NEW FTP SITE There is also a John Denver FTP Site courtesy of R.K.Young ====================================== Ad from "Talkers Magazine", April 1995 ====================================== AFTER YEARS ON THE RADIO, WE'RE READY TO TALK MEET JOHN DENVER In a career that has spanned more than two decades, John Denver has earned international acclaim as a songwriter, performer, actor and humanitarian. Henry John Deutschendorf, Jr. began his career in the 1960's as an aspiring folk musician in the clubs of Los Angeles. The son of a U.S. Air Force officer, John took his performing name from the premiere Rocky Mountain city in the state where he eventually made his home. Denver's first break came when he was chosen from 250 other hopefuls as lead singer for the popular Chad Mitchell Trio, with whom he sang for two years. His songwriting skills were noted when Peter, Paul and Mary recorded his "Leaving On A jet Plane", which became their first number one hit. The rest, as they say, is history. Denver's popularity since the early 1970's may be measured in record sales that few other artists have achieved. John Denver is one of the top five recording artists in the sales history of the music industry, and his concert tours have reached millions globally. Now, John Denver finds himself back in the media/issues spotlight with the forthcoming airing of JOHN DENVER:The WILDlife CONCERT on Sunday, June 18 and Thursday, June 22 on the Arts & Entertainment cable TV network. The performance, recorded in February at the Sony Music Studios in Manhattan, features Denver in a number of musical settings including solo, full band and accompanied by a string quartet, performing a variety of his best-loved songs, as well as some very special surprise selections. It is an intimate and close-up performance. Denver, a longtime environmental/conversation enthusiast, performs this concert in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS). The WCS, headquartered at the Bronx Zoo, is one of the largest conservation organizations in the world and he serves on its Board of Advisors. JOHN DENVER: THE WILDlife CONCERT is produced by the Element Foundation, Inc. in association with Sony/Legacy Recordings, WCS and A&E. The Element Foundation is a not for profit environmental media company dedicated to promoting the health of our environment. We are proud to be associated with JOHN DENVER:THE WILDlife CONCERT which is being made available on CD from Sony/Legacy Recordings and on Video from Sony Music Video. RASA ALKSNINIS COLUMBIA ARTIST DEVELOPMENT ---------------------------------------------------------------------- GROWTH RATE OF ROCKY MOUNTAIN HIGH ================================== If any of you like statistics, I thought it was interesting how our Rocky Mountain High Internet Club has grown in fits and spurts. Here are the figures: Month New Members Total Members ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ May 1994 16 founding members 16 June 1994 6 members 22 July 1994 1 member 23 Aug 1994 10 members 33 Sept 1994 21 members 54 Oct 1994 15 members 69 Nov 1994 3 members 72 Dec 1994 20 members 92 Jan 1995 40 members 132 Feb 1995 115 members 247 Mar 1995 126 members 373 Apr 1995 59 members 432 May 1995 55 members 487 June 1995 48 members (so far) 541 The growth rate in June, July, and August of 1994 was slow mostly because I was busy with summer activities and didn't make very much of an effort to attract new members. In the fall, however, the growth rate picked up slightly. Then it fell in November. In February of 1995 I was able to create alt.fan.john-denver and that accounts for the rapid increase in our membership during February and March. In March I also started discovering different places to post on the usenet newsgroups. In April the rate dropped basically because I was busy getting the www page up and running and was neglecting to post any new advertisements for the club. Still, the growth rate in 1995 has been phenomenal and far above anything I projected ahead of time. --------------------------------------------------------------- ROSES by Emily M. Parris Roses are the most beautiful flower So perfectly shaped and designed Each petal so soft and delicate That it brings perfection to mind The fragrance of roses is wonderful A fragrance to nurture the soul For a rose is sweetly enticing So perfectly precious and whole Though roses come with a thorn or two We forgive that prickly flaw For a rose is surely the sweetest thing That anyone ever saw Copyright 1991 by Emily M. Parris ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ THANK YOU I want to thank Mark Stern and Mary Ledford for providing concert information; Mike DeShazer for his poem "For The Singer"; and J.W.
