This was also used for the documentary film which was aired around the world. The music has since been turned into a song with John Denver singing. The theme of the conference as well as the song is known as "The One World" written in collaboration with Sammy Cohn as lyricist and Byron Janis, pianist, who wrote the music. "The One World" was also sung by John Denver in June 1992 during the Rio de Janeiro U.N. Conference at "The Earth Summit." John was there together with Jacques Cousteau, David Brower, Melissa Poe, and Lester Brown. "The One World" Take a moment and start to think A moment is all it will take Take a moment; we're on the brink What a difference we all can make It's up to us - to all of us We simply have to try It's up to us - to all of us Time is passing by This is the one world for all of us The one world we never may know This is the one world for all of us The blue skies, the green earth below This is the one world we're living in The one world we never may share This is the one world we're living in The rivers, the oceans, the air This is the one world for all of us The one world that's yours and is mine This is the one world for all of us A world only God could design This is the one star of all the stars The star that we wish on each night This is the one star of all stars A star with its own special light This is the one world for all of us A world that we owe to the brave This is the one world for all of us The one world we have to save <+> <+> <+> <+> <+> <+> <+> "ALMOST HEAVEN: SONGS AND STORIES OF JOHN DENVER" Closed February 15, 2004 - Denver, Colorado ================================================= "Last Chance For Heaven" Rocky Mountain News - Entertainment Section February 13, 2004 The Denver Center Theatre Company's tribute to a Rocky Mountain legend will take its final bow - for the second time - this weekend. "Almost Heaven: Songs and Stories of John Denver" made its debut a few years ago and became so popular that the Denver Center brought it back with additional songs and a new cast... - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - "Two Denver Center Records" by John Moore (Excerpt from the Article) Denver Post February 8, 2004 Both of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts producing entities are celebrating longevity records within nine days of one another. One is sweet; the other more bittersweet. "Almost Heaven: Songs and Stories of John Denver" closes February 15, three months earlier than hoped, but still the longest-running show in DCTC history with 179 performances over two seasons. "I had no preconceived notions how long it would run," said producer Hal Thau. "This was a nice, long run, and I am thrilled with it." After "Heaven" drew 28,000 last year in a limited run in the 778-seat Stage Theatre, it was brought back to the 250-seat Ricketson Theatre in October with the hope it would have the legs to last through May. It didn't, but by the time it closes, it will have been seen by more than 40,000. "Producers from New York and London are interested in it, and we will have more from Australia here for the final weekend," Thau said. "This show is most definitely going to have a continued life," including a possible national tour. <*> <*> <*> <*> <*> <*> <*> <*> <*> <*> <*> <*> <*> ======================================= J O H N D E N V E R N O T E S ======================================= Emily < emily@parris.net > It is sad to inform you that spammers broke into the Rocky Mountain High Guestbook. When she stepped out the door of a shop she almost bumped into a man wearing a loud, colorful poncho - unmistakably John Denver! "Oh God!" she said.
