MORE ABOUT JOHN'S LIFE by Emily M. Parris ======================================================================== The songs you are probably familiar with came out of John's marriage to Annie Denver. She was with him during the years when his career reached a Rocky Mountain High. They adopted 2 children - Zachary and Anna Kate. John and Annie divorced in 1983 and he was alone for quite a few years. Later on, however, he married Cassandra Delaney from Australia. She sings on several of John's albums and appeared in a video as well. They had one child together and named her Jesse Belle. This is particularly amazing since John had earlier thought that he was unable to conceive and that is why he and Annie had adopted children. John and Cassandra divorced a few years ago and she has custody of Jesse Belle. If you listen to the songs you can also follow the chronology of his life. "Annie's Song" is one of John's most famous songs along with "Back Home Again", "Take Me Home, Country Roads", and "Rocky Mountain High." It is clear from the songs alone that these years were some of John's happiest. On the albums "Higher Ground" and "Christmas Like A Lullaby" you can also hear about some of the good times with Cassandra. He has songs about Australia, and Cassandra sings with him on "Higher Ground". In the song "Christmas Like A Lullaby" he sings about spending a Christmas morning there in Australia with Cassie. John's music is woven into the fabric of many of our lives. We've raised our children on his music, sung it at weddings, and funerals and every song takes on a meaning according to what we were doing at the time.
